You meet with a Local Area Coordinator (LAC) to agree on a plan of ‘reasonable and necessary’ supports tailored to your individual goals and needs. This is called your NDIS plan. The supports in your plan may include therapies, personal care, assistive technology, transport, and more. These services are delivered by registered or approved service providers. The funding for these supports can be managed in one of three ways: • Self-managed – You manage the funds yourself. • Plan-managed – A registered plan manager helps you manage the funds. • NDIA-managed – The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) manages the funds and pays providers directly. Your plan is reviewed regularly to ensure it continues to meet your needs and helps you work toward your goals.

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a Federal Government initiative that provides funding and support to people with permanent and significant disabilities. It is designed to help individuals achieve their personal goals and improve their independence, social participation, and quality of life. The NDIS supports eligible participants by providing funding for a wide range of services and resources, including therapies, equipment, home modifications, and support workers. The scheme is person-centred, meaning that each participant receives a tailored plan based on their unique needs and aspirations. The NDIS also supports families and carers by offering resources, education, and respite services to help maintain strong support networks around the participant.
